Ronson Art Deco Lady Dancing table lamp chrome and black very rare 14425

About the Item

Ronson Art Metal Works is justifiably world renowned for the art deco cigarette lighters and accessories produced in the Art Deco style. Some of the work is well known and fairly accessible to collectors. Other items, simply don't turn up often, perhaps as infrequently as once in a collector's lifetime adventure. This lamp is only known via this example and drawings in the Ronson records where it is identified as model 14225. The base for the figure was used on other models from 1934 and presumably this lamp dates to 1934, although it could simply be a prototype from slightly before or after. I have put a hardback handmade shade from Lakeshore Studios on it and added a bulb riser so that you can see the figure and use this in a modern home. A purist collector or designer might elect to seek a wide truncated dome shade in black or chrome. This lamp was not illustrated in the catalog pages with a shade, but low domes were on some of the lamps and more traditional shades on others, so... depending on your scheme, YMMV. If you don't want or need this shade, let me know as it will significantly increase shipping cost, etc. Without the riser and shade the base is 13.5" tall 5" across and 5.25" deep. A perfect accessory for any Art Deco or dance themed interior!

  • Louisville Pottery Company Daniel Boone Rare Mauve Mid Century Modern Kentucky
    By Louisville Pottery Company
    Located in Mobile, AL
The Louisville Pottery company used a variety of stamps and sold to touristy shops with marks including Cherokee, Great Smokey Mountains, Daniel Boone, Mammoth Cave, Kentucky Hand Made and more. Most of them are small pitchers and vases in traditional forms. But, then there are occasional exceptions and over time we have all learned that major designers including Frederic Hurten Rhead (over at Selden Bybee) were working in the area. Research is ongoing to identify the examples designed and/or influenced by well known artists or simply a great relatively unknown designer or two deserving of recognition for their work. The JB Speed Art Museum cataloged a slightly smaller gloss green example Accession number 2007.10.9 with the Cherokee Pottery...
