Straw Marquetry Decorative Box with Brass Handles Green Teal Inlay Checkerboard Pattern
Decorative Box 01 is a handcrafted square box created using the straw marquetry technique. Its surface features a checkerboard pattern composed of hand-dyed and flattened rye straw in deep teal and green tones, arranged with precise geometric alignment. The natural sheen of the straw gives the piece a soft, iridescent quality that changes with the light. The box is fitted with solid brass handle, adding both functional and visual contrast through warm metallic detail. Entirely handmade by Ruda Studio in Ukraine, this piece demonstrates a modern interpretation of traditional marquetry. Treasure Box 01 is ideal for storing small items or serving as a striking accent on a shelf or tabletop. Custom sizes and color palettes are available upon request.

RUDA Studio
RUDA is a multidisciplinary design studio, was founded by Oleksandra Rudenko and Yuriy Vovnyanko in Odesa, Ukraine. The main focus of the studio — space design and the creation of unique household items. During the creation process, we seek to make each project individual and special, focusing on feelings, custom items, and the combination of the historical and the modern. RUDA Studio researches folk artisans' techniques of our country of origin, we decided to bring traditional marquetry to contemporary use. "Our projects are about returning to the origins. We strive to restore the value of handicrafts and individual products. In our subjects we update the topics of conservation of the Earth's natural resources and human interaction with nature," says the studio's founder Oleksandra Rudenko.
