Bartlett from One Source Auctions / Invaluable: "William Henry Bartlett was born 1809 and died in 1854. He became one of the foremost illustrators of topography of his generation. He first came to the United States in 1835 to draw the buildings, towns and scenery of the Northeastern United States. Bartlett's renditions were accurate and interesting for traveler's from America as well as abroad. His work is considered some of the best historic American documentation ever published during the early 19th Century. The work of WH Bartlett coming from American Scenery published in 1837 in London. This is a lovely hand colored steel plate engraving. A genuine antique print that is 185 years old." MORE ON VITO. Born and raised New York artist, Vito Giallo, turned one of the best antique dealers sold to the who’s who of New York City - think Elton John, Andre Leon Talley, Greta Garbo, Robert Mapplethorpe, Franz Kilne, Mark Rothko (to name a few) and of course a daily customer of his, Andy Warhol. Mr. Giallo worked as an illustrator and graphic artist at Wolgang Beck Studios in 1952, where he suggested to use Mr. Beck’s space to open The Loft Gallery. There was Andy Warhol’s first show, The Origamis, along with other commercial artists, Nathan Gluck, including Mr. Giallo. He was Warhol’s first apprentice and first to give Warhol a show in 1954. Vito’s passion for antiques and their stories lead him to leave commercial art and Warhol to later open a little shop on Madison Ave across the Carlyle Hotel that brought in every artist, actor, politician, doctor, writer in. A frequent buyer (we’re talking every two weeks) from Sotheby’s plus Giallo’s exquisite taste made him the go-to for the best antiques in the city! Mr. Giallo is 92yrs young and currently residing in Brooklyn, New York. At 91, Giallo is still very active. He was recently featured in NYT, W, Elle, and debuted his highly anticipated jewelry collaboration all in April 2022 with BK Jeweler, Catbird, and is currently working on launching his memoir/book! With the success of these recent projects, Giallo is opening his personal vault, to sell a collection of his treasured antiques he's held on for so long.
