Fred Zimbalist Thorens Silver Plated Music Box
About the Item
This is a Fred Zimbalist Thorens silver music box shaped as an old phonograph with trumpet horn. All the silver panels that make the box and the horn are adorned with engraving scrolls and flowers. The music box-disc player is found after lifting a lid that is part of the silver top panel. The music box is working well and has an assortment of 5 discs that can be storage in a drawer that is part of it. Fred Zimbalist was a Russian emigrant who moved to ohio and founded the Zimbalist Music Box Company. The nickel silver plated pieces were hand made in India. The upper border of the trumpet horn are scallop shaped.
