French 19th c Paper Covered Box With Neo-Classical Diorama Under the Glass Top
About the Item
French 19th c Wood and Paper Covered Painted Box With A Neoclassical, Palladian Style, Building Diorama Under the Glass Top. The 3D scene is of a Classical building with wild game in the front, a classical urn and cut out foliage heightened with watercolor. The hinged top has what appears to be a later small chain stop. These boxes were made with inexpensive materials and were intended to be sold as souvenirs.
