Beautiful Jean-Michel Frank straw marquetry decorative box from the 1930s. Carved from beech wood fully covered by straw marquetry with radiating patterns. It has been fully restored, with slight traces on the marquetry remaining, and the yellow velvet fabric inside that was pretty damaged has been replaced by a black velvet fabric. This beautiful antique piece was carefully crafted at the workshops of Foster & Bailey in solid .925/.999 standard silver with a hinged lid. Fitted with a mirror and a place to storage a 5 cents nickel coin. Decorated at both sides with engine turned guilloche decoration topped with applications of translucent vivid turquoise enamel with flowers. Weight: 42.30 Grams, (27.11 Dwt). Measurements: Diameter of 51 mm and a height of 12 mm (2.0 x 0.47 Inches). The jardiniere was part of a special line for the Atelier Primavera, the in-house design studio in the Paris department store Au Printemps.⁠ The atelier, created in 1912, aimed to provide affordable modern French design to middle-class consumers.
