About the Item

Mid-19th century Gutta Percha Box with photo's and contemporary notes on Genealogy Fantastic mid-19th century gutta percha box with standing figures and a horse. Gutta Percha boxes were made from a material known as gutta percha, a form of sap from a particular tree. The boxes were popular to carry photographs in during the mid-19th century. This is a nice antique box with great images on the front. The inside shows images of a young man, and later in life as an older man. Some contemporary notes on the family genealogy are included. These presumably pertain to the individual in the photographs. The box measures: 5" x 4" x 1". Good antique condition with some warping to the box. Please see all images.
