Modernist Brass Box with Gilt Decor, France 1940s
About the Item
This stunning decorative box was crafted in France in the 1940s. The geometric square shape has a modernist, minimalist design with industrial flair. The quality brass metal has an industrial-like, dark brown original patina. The piece boasts a decorative gilded brass carved ornament on top of the lid and has an interior lined with cork. There is no visible maker's mark.
The original cork inside that was pretty damaged has been replaced by a similar natural cork material.
Measurements: 6.13 in wide (15.5 cm) x 6.13 in deep (15.5 cm) x 2.19 in high (5.5 cm).
