This unique antique also makes a great display piece for a shop window, because its quality, uniqueness and true beauty will people want to stop and stare. This handcrafted antique has the most amazing patina, but what ofcourse makes this antique stand out from anything you ever saw, are the deeply and top quality carved flowers on all sides. What is even more amazing is that of all those intricate and deep carvings, not a single one ever got damaged. That probably is, because in real life this box is so amazing that when you pick it up, you immediately handle it with great care. All-handcrafted out of solid oak and brass only this work of beauty, made for the educated men and women of the late 1800s or early 1900s, is almost as perfect as the day it left the artisan's studio. The only thing missing is the lock and even that was removed with care, because no damage was caused there either. In the center of the pair of rose flower branches on the lid is a beautifully carved image of two castle towers. Since there is no apparent relation to the multiple and top quality carved flowers all around this box, we are convinced that this large and truly stunning antique box was commisioned for by the owner of this (or such a castle) and that it was presented / gifted to his (future) wife. Luckily former owners recognized the quality and beauty of this clearly European antique and for that reason too this antique box still is as good as one could ever hope to find it. Over the many decades it has grown a marvelous patina and so if you recognize and appreciate the quality, the uniqueness, the artisanship and the aesthetic beauty of this antique box then maybe you (or YOUR wife) should be the next custodian of this once in a lifetime find. By the way, we 'found' this unique box with the antique silver, Lourdes cross pendant inside and we will leave it there for the next custodian(s).
