About the Item

Here is a rare 1930s Kodak 1-A gift camera designed by Walter Dorwin Teague, one of the great industrial designers of the machine age in America. Although this camera is rare, the best part is its condition. We don't think you'll ever see a cleaner example or a more complete set. In fact, we don't think this camera has ever been used. The camera and decorative box are are in excellent condition. The camera retains its original brown bellows--a real rarity. We almost want to say that the enamel & wood box and the camera are near mint--but there may be some edge wear on the camera and slight wear to the box if you look closely. And the bellows may be somewhat dry. It's hard to believe this set is nearly 100 years old. Note: we have not tested the camera to see if it is in working condition. The camera also has it's original outer cardboard box, which shows wear. Plus, this example also has its original owner's manual. We've included many photos in this listing so you can see the overall condition of this rare set. An example of this camera is in the permanent collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
