About the Item

Potschappel-Dresden, Germany, 19th century. With brand on the base. Rectangular box with a slightly curved lid made of enamelled porcelain with golden metal finishes and hinges that is decorated, on the outside, of figurative scenes of couples in natural landscapes of clear Rococo memory enhanced by golden frames and scale elements in pink tones; inside, on the lid,another scene of this type appears. The base of the piece has a mark alluding to the factory responsible for it. In 1872 Carl Thieme (CarlJohann Gottlieb Thieme) turned his porcelain painting business into a porcelain factory, keeping the headquarters in Dresden and calling it SächischePorzellanfabrik zu Potschappel (Dresden) von CarlThieme. A brand like the one seen in this piece between 1888 and the beginning of the 20th century was used in it. Size: 12 x 8 x 7 cm.

Soft white paste, circa 1784-1803. Piece of tender pasta with wavy edges used to hold the tops of the cups in them and cool them when filling the ice container or similar. On the outside, it has two handles in the shape of plant elements and small reliefs on the fronts (also enhanced by the gold) which frame floral bouquets with colored leaves. It is possible that the piece belongs to the second period or intermediate stage of the Real Fábrica de Porcelana del Buen Retiro...
