Regency Rosewood And Brass Inlaid Campaign Dressing Box

About the Item

Finely made and signed E. Wells Co Patent on hinges. Rectangular hinged top with brass edge and fleur de lis corners and central monogrammed plaque opening to a fitted interior. Conforming case with flush side handles and Bramah lock and key. Likely once owned by Rear Admiral Sir George Johnstone Hope a close personal friend of Admiral Nelson. With written note " This dressing-case belonged to Lady Sarah, went with her to Bod....... in 1842, mother gave it to me for Christmas 1912 ". Signed Ellin Salmon.[ Mrs Ellin Verney Salmon 1873-1947]. She was the daughter of Sir Edmond Hope Verney. Her mother was Lady Sarah Elizabeth Pitt Amherst an artist and botanical illustrator.
