About the Item

A Stunning Quality Late Regency Period, 19th Century, Rosewood And Brass Inlaid Work Box, Stationary Box, Or Jewellery Box, Having Exceptional Decoration Throughout With Hinged Lid Enclosing Document Flap And Removable Tray Of Various Compartments Concealing Large Storage Cavity Below, Flanked By Original Brass Handles, Raised On Original Carved, Turned Feet. Bearing A  Makers Label For - "R.Dalton, The Bazaar, Soho Square, London" This fabulous quality box is in superb condition and is incredibly attractive. The overall quality is superb and it has clearly been well loved and well looked after throughout its life. The interior was probabably designed as a stationary box originally when taking into account the type of compartments, lids etc, but it would be extremely easy should one wish to convert the interior for a chnge of use to turn it into a fabulous jewellery box. As with all items which we offer for sale it has been attended to in our workshops by our highly skilled, trained, professional antique furniture restorers and has received a natural wax polish to ensure it is in the best possible condition before being offered for sale and ready for immediate placement within the home. The box also comes with working lock and key. The Bazaar in Soho Square was initially opened in February 2016 and served great purpose for both up and coming and established tradesman of the time who were not in a position to own bricks and mortar premises of their own. It was essentially a disused warehouse laid out with various stalls and counters across 2 floors which could be rented on a per day basis, with strict rules in place to ensure business was conducted in a fair and appropriate manner.
