About the Item

A small and delightful Japanese yellow ground cloisonne round trinket or incense box, Meiji Period, circa 1910, Japan. The small box of squat, round shape, and may originally have been intended for use as a kogo, a container for precious incense. The round cloisonne box features a yellow enamel ground worked with scattered cherry blossoms in shades of pink, blue, and white enamel amongst scrolling vines and leaves. A scalloped border of turquoise enamel decorates the rims of both body and cover. The interior and underside in a solid deep turquoise green.
