Tole Games Box and Counters for Boston Russe

About the Item

An unusual and rare Charles X tole counter box containing gaming pieces and the rules for Boston Russe. It is decorated throughout with romantic transfer vignettes. The card game Boston which is a variant on whist was invented at the time of the American War of Independence, and in some way sought to support the Americans, France, circa 1830.
