About the Item
A very handsome 19th century dresser box hand constructed in Arbutus wood. (Arbutus wood is an indigenous wood specific to the southwestern region of Ireland).
The hinged lid featuring an intricately inlaid marquetry panel depicting Muckross Abbey surrounded by inlaid motifs of meandering vines, thistles & shamrocks. The interior surface of the lid showing four inlaid shamrock motifs centred by an inlaid marquetry oval reserve depicting Muckross Ruins, opening to a plain interior retaining what appears to be its original lock mechanism & hinges.
