Folk Art Hand Painted Box American Circa 1850

About the Item

This is a little beauty with rose decoration on black ground gold border of scrolling vine swags and icicles, polychrome floral decoration to sides, vibrant green paper interior, missing hook/ lock, wear to finish especially to high areas, interior with fading/ loss, 4" h. x 10 1/4" w. x 5 3/4" d. The paintwork attributed to Edward and Thomas hill. This duo did much work for the Haywood brothers.
