This is an vintage decorative jewellery case. A Japanese, lacquer and Mother of Pearl lidded box in Art Deco taste, dating to the early 20th century, circa 1930. Appealing example of Japanned taste with a striking finish Displaying a desirable aged patina and in good original order Deep lacquered finish to the case with black hues, with contrasting brass mounts Pleasingly inlaid with Mother of Pearl peacock and chick decor Silk cotton lined interior in bright scarlet red, embroidered with foliate pattern Lift-out tray hosts a central compartment with a set of 10 ring slots to the sides Offers a small storage space of 2.5cm (1'') height beneath the ring tray Lid held securely with an engraved brass clasp over square backplate This is a delightful vintage decorative jewellery case, with distinctive inlaid decor and deep Japanned finish.
