19th Century Pair of Gilded & Patinated Bronze Two Light Candelabra
About the Item
This lovely pair of candelabra, crafted in both gilded and patinated bronze, are 19th century French. Cast as female figures in Egyptian headdress and classical robes standing upon Rouge Royal marble plinths decorated with regal lion heads and floral garlands. The whole resting on sphinx feet set up on bronze bases. The candle branches issue from the female heads and terminate in winged dragon arms supporting the candle cups which are decorated with athenaeum and are topped with open work athenaeum finials. The details in casting and chasing are deep and detailed while the gilding is rich and the patination is in great shape with little to no rub thrus

Pair of Patinated and Polished Bronze Renaissance Revival Candelabra
Located in Hudson, NY
This pair of candelabra made in France, circa 1880 are designed in the Renaissance Revival style. Well cast in a large number of separate parts and patinated and polished to create drama and decorative detail the pair is of a nice scale without being overly large. Cast as a central column raised on a pyramidal pierced base. The base is centered by grotesque masks and foliate sprays raised up on feet. The shaft leads up to four large branched arms also cast with corresponding foliate sprays issuing from more grotesques. The combination of color and casting create a lively play of light.
