Burned Wood and Brass Sculptural Candle Holder by Desia Ava
About the Item
Fire for contemplation is an object that aims to provoke mindfulness and pure enjoyment of the reflected fire flame. The object plays with illusion via the reflective surface of the polished brass-2 candles are reflected from each side of the object but from certain points of view they appear as multiple reflections and it becomes hard to distinguish what is real and what is reflected. The burned wood is a reflection of the cycle of fire itself. The object invites for rituals and contemplation.

Desia • Ava (b.1991) is a Bulgarian-born visual artist based in Stockholm. Desia works with diverse artistic mediums-sculpture, installation, digital art, collectible design. Her material palette includes raw materials (wood, metal, stone), invisible and unsolid materials (water, sound, mist, scent), edibles (sugar, jelly, salt). Desia’s artistic research is focused on creating sensory, meditative and mindful experiences. Her work explores the element of scale, of the micro worlds and the way they are connected to the universal.
