About the Item
Impressive pair of 6-light French Empire torchères with winged putti made by Philippe Mourey (Paris 1840-1910) in 1870s. Each modeled, fine detailed ormolu pair of putti holding aloft a large foliate shaft issuing six acanthus scrolled branches and lion feet motifs raised on a tripartite rouge imperial and black marble base. The central stem has a removable eagle final. All 12 candleholder plates are available. Signed: PH. MOUREY
