This remarkable Sheffield silver plate candelabrum by celebrated English silversmith Matthew Boulton displays all of the timeless elegance and style of the period. Masterfully crafted with sterling silver bobèches, this candelabrum exemplifies the craftsman’s attention to detail and eye for design. The most renowned silversmith of Birmingham, England, Mathew Boulton was known largely as an esteemed English inventor and entrepreneur, particularly for his innovative achievements in silver plating. Works by Boulton, especially those displaying wonderful design and craftsmanship, are among the finest of Old Sheffield plate and are most desirable. Bears the hallmark of Matthew Boulton, Birmingham 1804, on the bobèches; marked with Boulton's sunburst mark and the maker's mark "TM" believed to be for Thomas Mynd, Boulton's brother-in-law and known plate worker and silversmith.
