About the Item

A spectacular and monumentally scaled true pair of French 19th century Louis XV st. ormolu and patinated bronze candelabras. Each seven arm candelabra is raised by a most impressive ormolu square base with stunning scrolled supports in a striking satin and burnished finish adorned with superb richly chased foliate, floral, and fluted designs. At the center of each candelabra is a charming finely detailed patinated bronze cherub sitting down and facing inward holding up the beautiful scrolled foliate central support. Above are six elegantly scrolled arms adorned with outstanding acanthus leaves and sensational intricately detailed blooming flowers leading to foliate bobeches and floral candle cups also displaying a remarkable satin and burnished finish. Above is the single central arm with a scrolled tapered design decorated in the same manner. All original gilt and patina throughout. Candle height: 12".
