Pair of French 19th Century Neoclassical St. Ormolu, Bronze and Marble Lamps
About the Item
A remarkable true pair of French 19th century neo-Classical st. ormolu, patinated bronze and Vert de Patricia marble lamps. Each three arm candelabra lamp is raised by a rectangular Vert de Patricia base with a fine mottled border below the ormolu pedestal shaped support with a Coeur de Rai band and impressive family crest with axes and spears amidst oak and laurel branches. Above and to the left is a handsome patinated bronze Roman soldier. To the right stands the beautiful Minerva in her armor holding a spear and draped in a flowing garment. The circular tapered central supports are adorned with fine acanthus leaves and display charming berried laurel wreaths amidst ribbons leading up to the arms. Each arm displays elegant ball shaped candle cups with foliate patterns. The outer arms display beautiful Rinceaux shaped designs while the central arms display lovely branch and floral designs. All original gilt throughout.
