Pair of French 19th Century Ormolu and Marble Candelabras
About the Item
A beautiful and extremely high quality pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu and Fleur de Pêcher marble candelabras. Each four arm candelabra is raised by three ormolu topie shaped feet below the exceptional double mottled circular Fleur de Pêcher marble base with block reserves and decorated with richly chased berried laurel and wrap around beaded bands. At the center are three elegantly curved supports with hoof feet centering a fine floral rosette and adorned with acanthus leaves leading up to stunning richly chased handsome satyr masks connected by and intricately detailed swaging berried laurel garland in a rich satin and burnished finish. The Fleur de Pêcher marble bodies display remarkable reeded designs leading up to the curved fluted top caps from where the four striking luxuriant arms are seemingly growing out. Each arm is adorned with superb finely detailed and richly chased leaves and blooming flowers leading to charming floral candle cups. All original gilt throughout.
