About the Item

A Pair of Early 19th Century English Ormolu Mounted Hand-Diamond Cut Crystal Two-Arm Candelabra. Each candelabra features finely hand-diamond cut crystal elements mounted with ormolu detailing. Each is supported by a faceted crystal base with a broad, circular foot, rising to a tapered stem with detailed cutting. The central shaft is adorned with an ormolu-mounted foliate motif, extending into two gracefully curved candle arms. These arms are finished with ormolu acanthus leaf mounts that provide contrast to the transparent crystal structure. The upper section consists of diamond-cut crystal candle nozzles, supported by pierced drip pans encircled by cascading strands of faceted crystal prisms. The prisms, composed of graduated octagonal beads and elongated drops, create a shimmering effect. A faceted crystal finial tops each girandole, adding to the overall vertical balance of the composition. England, Circa: 1830
