A Brass Hanukkah Lamp, Prague late 18th century
About the Item
This spectacular Hanukkah lamp is ornately fashioned with a cast backplate featuring a heart shape at center flanked by two rampant Lions of Judah fiercely facing away from one another clutching flowing foliate branches.
These magnificent lions are surmounted by a floral-bordered, eight-pointed authentic Star of David, topped by two dotted bird-shaped heads at its tip.
Center inscription reads " Lighting the Candles of Hannukah" protuberantly written in Hebrew.
Backplate is attached to the front platform that has eight deep pointed conical-shaped cups serving as oil containers.
Hanukkah lamp rests on two wide attached legs at its sides.
