French Restauration Era Bronze Sconces

About the Item

An exquisite pair of gilt-bronze and black-patina sconces - appliqués - from the French Restauration Era. The pair revels in the acanthus-leaf iconography of classicism to an almost abstract degree, with the gilt acanthus of the backplate supporting the five substantial arms which in turn support gilt cups and bobeches.
