About the Item

An interesting and unusual cast iron and carved pine 8 light candle stand with a large wonderfully carved wood flame finial. Remnants of old paint on the cast iron base, the support was most likely gilded at one time but now worn away. This stand has no overt signs of religious symbolism and was probably used for lighting in a well to do home. Italy, early 18th century (possibly older).
