Pair of green Moroccan candleholders in green Tamegroute ceramic

About the Item

Exquisite pair of glazed ceramic vases from Tamegroute, a village located in the Draa River Valley, in southern Morocco. Historically, it served as a center of learning and religion through its famous Sufi zawiya. These vases feature a wonderful, brilliant emerald green, characteristic of the region's authentic craftsmanship. They can also be used as candle holders. Circa 1900 Local potters make these pottery using a traditional technique, a skill passed down from generation to generation. Local clay, tribal tools, handmade brushes, and natural pigment paint are used. It's then fired to create the glaze of this inspiring glazed earthenware. This is handmade ceramic; no two pieces are exactly alike: each piece tells a story of love, creativity, and life's purpose. Its organic curves create a natural and striking feel; it's a work of art and beauty. The patterns are timeless, tribal, and ancestral.
