Pair of Italian 18th Century Giltwood and Faux Painted Baroque Torchières
About the Item
A stunning and large scale true pair of Italian 18th century giltwood and faux painted Baroque Torchières. Each Torchière is raised by a striking pedestal with fine scrolled foliate feet and and octagonal stepped base. Each side displays impressive and extremely decorative faux painted Lapis Lazuli and Rouge Royal marble, recessed panels. Above are two richly carved charming maidens draped in flowing fabric, seated on powerful open winged eagles, with exceptional attention to detail. Each maiden is holding up a torch where a candle may be placed. All original gilt throughout.
