Pair of Italian 18th Century Patinated and Faux Porphyry Torchières

About the Item

A handsome and extremely decorative pair of Italian 18th century Neo-Classical st. patinated, giltwood, and faux painted Porphyry Torchières candlesticks. Each impressive Torchière is raised by three lightly curved legs and handsomely carved paw feet with foliate gilt accents. Each leg is separated by a wonderfully executed tapered faux painted porphyry plaque framed within a gilt band. Above mottled socle shaped supports are central columns with outstanding spiral fluted designs encased within impressive scrolled movements with gilt accents. The circular supports above display additional beautiful faux painted Porphyry gilt foliate designs. All original gilt and patina throughout. Top diameter: 10".
