18th Century bronze VOC pen candlesticks
18th century bronze VOC pen candlesticks, made in the Dutch East Indies after the example of 17th century Dutch collar candlesticks. The bottoms are weighted. The pen candlesticks are in used condition. 1 of the candlesticks has been repaired to the stem of the candlestick and collar. The Dutch East India Company or in modern spelling United East India Company, abbreviated to VOC (1602–1800), was a private Dutch trading company. Maritime trade with many products, such as spices, tea, sugar, silver, copper, porcelain and more with the area east of the Cape of Good Hope and west of the Strait of Magellan. Founded in 1602 and formally dissolved in 1798. Founder is The States General on the initiative of Johan van Oldenbarnevelt
