About the Item

Stunning pair of late 19th or early 20th century, Gothic church candle holders. If you are looking for a stylish and good size pair of church candleholders to create a special atmosphere then this handcrafted and gilt pair could be perfect for you. These rare works of religious art are entirely handcrafted and made of bronze and brass only. The only other material that is used for creating these Gothic church relics is the enameling inside the monstrance-like elements at the center of these stunning candlesticks. The enameled decoration is a French 'fleur de lis' symbol with stylized trefoil symbols (for the trinity) on either side. The lily flower ofcourse also is a symbol for the Virgin Mary and for purity. These meaningful, beautifully designed and very well executed antiques are in very good to excellent condition and they will look great on a church altar (where they probably originate from), but they could also look marvelous on top of a Gothic credenza in a Gothic Style (inspired) interior. Because of their size they could even be used as floor candle holders. These beautiful antiques from top to bottom are a joy to look at in the daytime and in the evenings with the candles burning on top these candlesticks create an atmosphere like no modern candlestick ever could. Around the rounded brass part where your candles will stand is a 'border' with stylized trefoil patterns and those borders are like the crowns on top of these divine candlesticks.
