About the Item
Rare pair of silver-plated brass Shabbat candlesticks, crafted in Warsaw, Poland, in 1908. These matching Shabbat candlesticks, impressed with flowers, lions and Stars of David, are the result of assembly-line production that was abundant in Warsaw during the end of the nineteenth and beginning of the twentieth centuries. To meet the demand of the Jewish population in Warsaw during this period, factories such as Fraget, Henneberg, and Norblin began manufacturing all kind of Jewish ceremonial objects that were affordable to the masses.
Each candlestick showcases a gracefully curvaceous form, adorned with intricate floral and foliate motifs, characteristic of the ornate European Judaica style of the period. The central sections prominently feature embossed Star of David symbols, reinforcing their sacred role in Jewish Shabbat observance. The silver-plated finish adds a refined and distinguished appearance, highlighting the delicate details of the design. Resting on square bases, these candlesticks offer both stability and aesthetic harmony, further enriched by elaborate decorative patterns.
A beautiful blend of religious significance and artistic mastery, these candlesticks serve as both functional ritual objects and treasured pieces of Jewish heritage, reflecting the skilled workmanship of Polish artisans from the early 20th century. While thousands of these Judaic- themed candlesticks were made during that time, finding a pair for sale today is not easy.

A Silver Shabbat Candelabra, Austria Circa 1925
Located in New York, NY
An elegant silver Shabbat candelabra from Austria circa 1925 is an impressive piece of Judaica, blending the cultural and artistic heritage of Jewish traditions with the craftsmanship of early 20th-century Austrian silversmiths.
The early 20th century in Austria was a period of artistic innovation, with the influence of the Vienna Secession movement, which emphasized modernist design and craftsmanship. Jewish communities in Austria had a rich tradition of creating and using beautifully crafted ritual objects for religious observance.
Candelabra is set on a shaped stepped dome, part-fluted with a cylindrical stem capped by a similar floral-shaped dome. The branches for the candelabra artistically stem from an intertwined center and curve stylishly outward to hold the bobeches for the beaker-shaped cups. A pierced Star of David rests on top of the bell finial applied to the center stem. This design reflects a blend of traditional Jewish themes...
