George I Period Britannia Standard Silver Candlesticks, London, 1720

About the Item

Hallmarked in London in 1720 by George Boothby, these very handsome, early George I period, Antique Brittania Standard Silver Candlesticks, are cast and octagonal in shape, each engraved with a crest to the well. Each candlestick measures 6.5"(16.5cm) tall, by 4.25"(10.5cm) wide, by 4.25"(10.5cm) deep. Together they weigh 20 troy ounces.

This fine antique Victorian sterling silver Chamberstick (chamber candlestick) has a plain circular form in the George I style. The well is plain and unembellished, encompassed with a plain elevated border. The plain cylindrical capital retains the original detachable hallmarked sconce ornamented with a plain applied moulded border.
