About the Item

An exceptionally rare ceramic advent candle holder designed by Harald Östergren and produced by Upsala-Ekeby in the first half of the 20th century. Executed in a refined celadon-green glaze, the piece presents a sculptural, organic form with four evenly spaced candle sockets integrated along the rim. Balancing modernist simplicity with timeless Scandinavian craftsmanship, this work reflects Östergren’s sensitivity to form and proportion, while also capturing the distinctive aesthetic of Upsala-Ekeby ceramics of the era. The soft, luminous glaze enhances the sculptural quality, creating a harmonious interplay of light and shadow. Both a functional object and a striking decorative centerpiece, this advent candle holder embodies the fusion of Nordic tradition and modern design innovation. Rarely seen on the market, it represents a sought-after collectible for connoisseurs of Swedish ceramics and early Scandinavian modernism. Dimensions: Diameter approx. 24 cm, Height 5 cm Condition: Very good vintage condition overall. A small chip to the rim (visible in photos) and minor wear consistent with age and use.
