Italian 18th Century Baroque Gilt Copper Candlestick

About the Item

Italian 18th century Baroque gilt copper candlestick. Rare Italian Baroque candlestick from the third quarter of the 18th century. It is a gilded copper body with a dished top on a baluster stem with scrolls and rocaills on a triform base. This candlestick, for the quality and decoration, is very close to an altar set by the Roman goldsmith, Carlo Guarneri. Reference: Carlo Guarneri, Tesori d’Arte Sacra Exhibition catalogue Rome 1975, cat. 349 A related set of candlesticks sold at Sotheby’s Roma May 18th, 2004. Condition is good. Gilding shows some wear appropriate to age. Pricket may have been replaced. Measurements: H 18” x W 5 ½” Weight: 3 ½ lbs.
