Lauritz Adolph Hjorth Danish Mid-Century Pair Pottery Candlesticks
About the Item
A stylish mid-century Danish Bornholm pottery pair of mottle glazed candlesticks by Lauritz Adolph Hjorth and dating from around 1950. The heavily made stoneware candlesticks of squat dwarf form standing on wide flat round footrims with recessed glazed bases with a short narrow raised candle holder with a flat ridged candle wax rim. Both are decorated in mottle blue glazes with contrasting rims and both have impressed makers marks to the bases and are numbered 072.
Provenance: from a large private collection of Scandinavian, mainly Danish, pottery and associated period items. Acquired from the UK Art Market.
In good condition with wear associated with age and use.
