About the Item

A stunning massive bright orange vintage glass candle holder or small vase from the Selena series, made by the talented Göte Augustsson for Ruda Glasbruk, Sweden. This is a very special piece with a bold design. It has a very bright orange base which fades into a yellow top, the colors are very intensive and the surface of the vase and slightly uneven surface, it looks like melted glass. His art was always simple and sleek, with a brutal art twist. It gives the most fantastic bright orange light as light shines through the glass and will be a statement piece on its own. It is 10,5cm (4.17") high and around 8.5cm (3.34") in diameter and in a very good condition. Note that this vase is rather heavy, 950g (1.98 lbs). The price includes free shipping. Ruda glassworks was located in Småland and was founded in 1920 and closed in 1972. The designer Göte Augustsson worked here, among others. The production mainly consisted of pressed and blown household glass but also crystal glass. Göte Augustsson is a designer and was cabin master in the third generation. He is self-taught and has not attended any art schools. He is mainly known for his glass series from the 60s, Cobolt, Grön Rustik, Demant, Orient and Selena. All the series were produced with carbon engraving technique, an old technique where the decor is engraved in the soft carbon molds, then the objects are blown into the molds. The result was fantastic art glass objects, all with a unique touch.
