Pair of 18th Century Italian Gold Leaf Candlesticks with Fossil Agate Coral

About the Item

Pair of 18th century Italian gold candlesticks with agate coral and baroque pearls. The altar sticks originally came from a church in Tuscany.. They are mounted with the coordinating pair of polished agate coral and adorned with baroque pearls. Agate coral is also Florida's state stone and is known for its unique formation that can take place over 20 million years. It's a natural gemstone that is created when coral is gradually replaced with agate. The agate in this particular coral has naturally forming crystalized druzy which creates a lovely sparkle to the mineral. The candlesticks have been preserved and transformed by Jean O'Reilly Barlow, the creative director of Interi. The date of manufacture reflects when she transformed the pieces and the period shows that the Italian candlesticks are originally 18th century. The pair of altar sticks transformed with the elements to create contemporary works of old and new.
