About the Item

Bring classical charm to a console, buffet, or mantel with this elegant pair of antique candlesticks. Hand-carved in Italy circa 1880 from solid oak, each sculptural candleholder depicts a finely detailed Roman maiden holding a spiraled torch terminating in a candle cup. The figures stand gracefully atop square plinths adorned with carved acanthus leaf motifs and oval medallions. Their flowing drapery and serene expressions reflect the refined artistry of the late Neoclassical period. The tall candleholders retain their original hand-painted light gray and taupe finish, now beautifully patinated with age and wear, revealing areas of warm wood beneath the surface. Both pieces are sturdy, well-balanced, and in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, exhibiting desirable natural distress and texture throughout. Perfect for adding a touch of historic Italian elegance to traditional or contemporary interiors alike. Measures: 10” W × 7” D × 33” H.
