Pair of Early 19th Century Brass Candlesticks with Etched Hurricanes

About the Item

Pair of rare and wonderful early 19th century brass spring loaded candlesticks with fitted and copper wheel etched hand blown hurricane shades. This is a wonderful example of the practicality of antiques. Since there was no electric lighting, you would need to walk about the house with a lit candle for lighting. The hurricane shade kept the flame from flickering out, which is just such a practical feature you don't see much today. These are beautifully hand cast brass and the shades are delightful.
