About the Item

An elegant and finely detailed pair of French 19th century Directoire st. patinated Bronze and Ormolu candlesticks. Each candlestick is raised by a triangular base with concave sides and recessed panels, while being supported on three mottled ball feet. Above the base are three beautiful patinated Bronze swans with their heads facing upwards surrounding the central fut. The Ormolu fut is decorated with acanthus leaves around the base and berried laurel movements along the shaft. The top cap serves as the candle cup and is designed by bold layered acanthus leaves with a fine pedaled upper edge.
