About the Item

Rare pair of Gothic patinated bronze candlesticks, finely cast in the shape of stylized deer. Each animal supports a central stem serving as a candle holder. Probably German work, attributable to the Nuremberg region, circa 14th century. Comparable models are held in several European museum collections, testifying to the animal iconography specific to Gothic goldsmithing. Very well-preserved, considering the period. Beautiful old patina. Dimensions: 12 x 6 x 12 cm. Rare and decorative pieces, of great interest to lovers of medieval art.
