Pair of Italian Neoclassical Period 18th Century Carved Giltwood Candlesticks

About the Item

A pair of Italian noclassical period carved and painted giltwood candlesticks from the 18th century, with paw feet. Each of this pair of exquisite Italian candlesticks is topped with a metal pricket, designed to receive a candle. In a typical manner, the candlesticks are decorated on the front part only and will be best showcased on a surface against a wall. They are each made of a baluster-shaped body, fluted in its upper section and delicately accented with gilt waterleaf motifs. The base on which each candlestick is raised, is adorned with a petite rosette, while the ensemble rests on three feet, the front ones being paw feet. The result is one of undeniable elegance. A patina to die for, made of an off-white painted body harmoniously contrasted with the gilded details, combined with a noclassical vocabulary makes this pair of Italian candlesticks from the 18th century an excellent decorative accent in any home, whether placed atop a chest-of-drawers, enfilade or console table.
