Pair of Mid-Century Cala Lily Candle Holders in Silver Plate by Hans Jensen
About the Item
This elegant pair of Mid-Century Modern silver plate Cala Lily candle holders were realized in Denmark by the esteemed maker Hans Jensen circa 1960. They offer stylized and subtly abstracted interpretations of the iconic flower- the cala lily- featuring sinuously curved elongated stems that overlap at their endpoint. Near this conclusion, they also feature banded detailing consisting of three perpendicular fillets in relief. The undulating bodies conclude in wrapped open form conical heads- the flowers of the lilies- perfect for presenting candles. Additionally, each of the bases offers a single curved and bifurcated leaf- all executed in lustrous sterling silver. With its clean modernist lines and beautiful craftsmanship- this set of candleholders is sure to excite discerning collectors of first rate Scandinavian design, as well as those with a penchant for all things exquisite. It is stamped by the maker and signed "Denmark". Excellent vintage condition.
