About the Item

Pair of vintage candlesticks probably produced between the 60s and 70s. We do not know whether it is a Chinoiserie, therefore candlesticks made in Europe but in an Oriental style, or whether it is a Chinese production, despite the uncertain origin, they remain splendid decorative elements. These candlesticks have a quadrangular base and candle holder in silver metal, polished by us with a specific product. The peculiarity is in the stems of these vintage candlesticks, made with the Cloisonné technique, an artistic enamel decoration that involves a design made of thin threads or strips or small metal partitions that create cells (called cloisons in French) that are welded or glued to a support slab of the work to be built and then, in the areas raised by the metal, enamel is poured, thus obtaining a sort of mosaic. The decorative theme includes elements of flora and fauna created with shades of light and dark that create three-dimensionality. It depicts china blue flowers that appear to be peonies, pastel green leaves with light points made with white enamel; branches and birds gliding among this vegetation. These candlesticks are in good vintage condition but have some imperfections visible in the photos. Some enamel tiles are missing and one of the candelabra is slightly bent. Reach out for any additional questions.
