Postmodern Green Marble and Lucite Candlesticks, circa 1980s
About the Item
A pair of postmodern marble and lucite candlesticks, late 20th century. Featuring tones of teal and swimming pool blue, this pair would be suited handsomely by any shade of wax candle. Reminiscent of the Italian Memphis Modern movement, the ideologies of which involved playing with shape and form - resulting in a stark departure from streamlined mid century aesthetics - these candelaria are at once unique and yet neoclassical. Memphis pieces also often fused newer materials (acrylic, lucite, etc) with “old world” ones (wood, marble, etc), and we see this sensibility reflected beautifully here. This pair is in great vintage condition with very minor signs of age. Pick up in central west Los Angeles or we ship worldwide.
