About the Item

"Stargazer" is a candleholder for three candels, designed by Lara Bohinc, with a base in white Carrara marble and supporting elements for candles in brass. They are made in UK from marble and brass in collaboration with stone specialists Lapicida. Available in five Classic marbles and designed to hold three candles. Dimensions: Ø 2.36", H. 9.84" Designed to hold three candles and to work as a stand along piece or paired with any of the other colors in the collection, the white Carrara is a popular marble with light grey veining. Available in two designs, these candlesticks have a powerful sculptural presence far exceeding their practical use. A beautiful union of brass and marble, "Stargazer" candleholders in white Carrara marble are inspired by orreries - mechanical models of the solar system used since classical times. Lara Bohinc, born in Slovenia, has been devoted to fashion, jewellery, design and architecture from an early age. She moved to London in 1996 to study jewelry and metalwork at the Royal College of Art. The following year, she debuted her collection at London Fashion Week, won the New Generation Design Award and began a series of collaborations with fashion big-timers such as Gucci, Costume National, Lanvin, Exte, Guy Laroche, Marcus Lupfer and Julien McDonald, and is a freelance consultant for Cartier International. Lara Bohinc was nominated for Accessory Designer of the Year Award by the British Fashion Council in 2008, and awarded Jewellery Designer of the Year by Elle Style Awards in February 2009. While retaining a deep respect for the traditional principles of her craft, she has drawn on her familiarity with Industrial techniques and materials to revitalize her pieces of design. Harnessing such technological processes as photo-etching, laser-cutting and computer design, she has fused modernity of style with classical design to achieve a contemporary yet timeless elegance.
